Re: Drome's Character.

Growing up in the fishing village of Mistras, most days in his childhood were simple or boring. While his father was on fishing trips with the neighbours Pran played with the other kids and enjoyed the nature around them.
Sometimes they played catch in the gardens, went to play hide and seek in the nearby forest or swam at the rocky shoreline. When they were in the mood for something calmer Pran and his two best friends went fishing at the shore or asked their mothers to bake them cookies and practiced with their music instruments. On more adventurous days they explored the caves on the shoreline.

Pran's best friends were a human boy named Tolga who played drums and a half-elf girl named Mialee that played a lute. Mialee's mother was a full elf, not that the kids understood the difference. The only thing they did notice was that she had even pointier ears than Mialee and didn't really sleep, which mostly resulted in her having more time to watch over and help them with their instruments.
When her mother disappeared Mialee's father began to drink a lot and over the years moved from cursing the nobles and powerful to blaming elves and his own daughter when she grew to a beautiful woman.

The three friends had always wanted to study the arts in one of Orlentyr's renowned colleges. For those neither rich enough to pay for it and neither of high enough birth to have it granted to them, the only way to study at the college was to join the military service for at least three years.
So when Pran was old enough he joined the Lord's force in Vone, even after the group fell apart with Mialee running away from her broken home and Tolga, being a year older, joining the military early to get out of the village.

With some basic training Pran was assigned to a scouting troop and sent to find the hideout of a bandit group that had been plundering farms on the eastern side of Reskel and attacking travelers along the road through the Stargazer Mountains. Despite their best attempts the local guards and patrols were unable to find where the bandits had made their base, so the higher nobles at Vone decided to send help to the incapable lower nobles of Reskel.
A big part of it was luck, but Pran actually managed to spot and follow one of the bandits without being noticed. When he got back to inform the group about the hideout Pran was taken aside by his superior, Captain Marcus, and chewed out for following the bandit alone. Back at the group Captain Marcus assigned three of his men to stick to Pran like glue and kept the remaining men with him, effectively splitting the troop into two 4-men groups.

During the attack of the bandit hideout Captain Marcus was gravely injured and misunderstanding the previous situation the other members of the group turned to Pran as a second in command. Surprised by the sudden pressure Pran had to think fast. He decided that securing the safety of the group was more important than making sure they took care of all bandits. Telling the others to carry Captain Marcus out, Pran set fire to a couple crates and barrels to keep the bandits from following them.

With only the Captain injured and the bandits taken care of, as far as anyone knew, the mission was called a complete success and accredited to Pran.
After that the 'Hero of Reskel' had some other minor successes and received promotions to the rank of seargent. The promotion also got him out of the scouting assignments and into something more prestigious. He accompanied his superiors to different meetings and went to other cities with important documents.

During one of his diplomatic missions Pran was approached by a high ranking officer who introduced himself as the lord general of Whelyr's king, King Eregeir Revengar III. The lord general, introducing himself as Arnim Thoricsson, took Pran aside and told him that he needed someone for a special task to save the kingdom from a terrible future. The greed for prestige made Pran blind to the signs that should have warned him.
When Pran agreed to take on the special task he didn't realize what he got himself into as the lord general manipulated him with official looking documents that made it seem like the king was going mad and preparing for war with Argrindar.
Not in his right mind Pran soon found himself on the way to the palace in Orlentyr to perform there as part of a band, which was his cover story. Pran was to assassinate the king and replace some sealed documets to prevent a war.

At the palace Pran met the band and his friend he hadn't seen for several years, Mialee. She seemed to evade any questions abou what she had been doing or why she did run away, but the joy of being reunited led Pran to disregard it and believe she didn't want to focus on how things went downhill for her after her mother disappeared. The rest of the band seemed a little detached and Pran found out that both he a Mialee were replacements because two members couldn't make it, causing them to doubt how well they could perform.
Pran was convinced by the others to leave the reuniting with his friend for later and focus on practicing for the performance. Only for Mialee to disappear shortly after they had played for the king and the nobles. It was the same evening when Pran was supposed to assassinate the king. The pressure of the situation got to him when he heard the distraction take place after he snuck with the faked documents and a short spear around corners and bypassed guards on his way to the kings chamber.

One of the two guards at the kings bedroom door left to check what the commotion outside was about while the other stayed. Contemplating if he should try to knock out the guard and proceed or take the situation as a gift and get out, claiming he had no chance, Pran suddenly heard some noises from inside the kings bedroom. At first he hear some shouting from the king, before something shattered and then he only heard screams. The guard was pulling the door open but a push from the inside staggered him back a few steps. Pran saw Mialee exiting the room and light emanating from it as if someone had put too much wood into a fireplace. As the guard tried to go for Mialee, Pran rushed him and bashed him over the head, knocking the guard unconcious.
The second reunion didn't last long either. In the distance they already heard the guards approaching. Mialee took charge and pulled Pran away, down the hall to a window. Another set of heavy footsteps came from the other side of the hallway and Pran looked from side to side and out of the window, telling Mialee that it was too high to jump down. Mialee put a hand on his cheek and told him to not jump down, but jump far. She then said to him to assist her and backed away to the wall for a running jump. Pran locked his fingers with the palms up in a low stance to give her a boost and then looked on as she suddenly only fell slowly after a certain distance to the castle. Baffled by the sight Pran backed off to the wall as well for a running jump and looking to the sides saw a man awfully resembling his old friend Tolga at the end of the hall. Knowing he had to get out Pran charged and jumped out of the window as far as he could. He saw Mialee below him say something and then he fell only slowly, just like her before. But before he could catch up to her she gave him a silent goodbye and fled alone.

After the incident Pran had to keep a low profile until he got out of Orlentyr and found his new place on Prince Corius's side of the civil war. The Lord General Arnim Thoricsson, he found out, never contacted him and was a different person altogether. Pran met him on Prince Coruis's side and the man was a thin, greyed old man instead of the muscular dark haired person he had received his orders from. Having been on a few diplomatic missions before, Pran suggested to head to the other kingdoms to try and get assistance for Prince Corius's claim to rule Whelyr or at least some military assistance to win the civil war.
After a few months Pran received permission to travel as part of several other covert agents to gather help for their cause.

Pran had always wanted to live the good life, with prestige and everything he could think of desiring. This can cause him to not think things through when he could gain fame or fortune. His previous troubles though gave him some experience with being fooled, tempering that personality trait with a level of cautiousness.
He is overly confident in his skills and takes pride in displaying them. Despite being practiced in sneaking around and picking locks, he wants to get rich and famous as an upstanding citizen, not some petty thief.
(He is intended as a cocky, overconfident guy who wants to be great, wealthy and respected. So if he has the money to pay he will buy the most expensive food, lodging or equipment. But I also gave him the Forgery and Sense Motive skills to give him a chance to notice when he is being played as that has already happened to him once)

Tolga left the town of Mistras a year before Pran and worked his way up with dedication and determination. He has always been a stickler for rules, only his friendship to Pran and Mialee rivaling his adherence to rules. He gained the position of leading his own troop and has a reputation of hitting his warhammer onto his shield like a wardrum to intimidate enemies or to spurn on his men.

Mialee left Mistras to escape her drinking father and find out what happened to her mother. Having always been a kindhearted person, Pran never found out why she had killed the king, but he is convinced that she must have had a good reason, like the one he had been given by the fake lord general. To find her Pran set out to check whenever he heard of a beautiful drin lady playing a lute somewhere.
